This store has come through Covid and an awful flood on Christmas to present a new look. New flooring and cash desk makes the area seem double the size. Many interesting pieces of furniture, recent delivery of a large collection of sofa cushions, small carpets, several items from Europe some for the kitchen. French soaps, wooden spoons from France, glassware. Always something interesting and new here. New and used items. Curates a good mix. Very friendly staff member.
My partner and I went to Surrounding's "Open House" last Saturday. My my how things have changed. A few years back the owner had an array of Christmas treats, cheeses, crackers, etc. It was quite lovely. But this year, a glass of wine and a tiny piece of a wrap was offered, once, when we entered the shop. Very cheaply done. Over the years, her open house has been something to look forward to for a couple of hours, now it's all day once a year. I suggest going back to a 2 or 3 hour block, offering your guests goodies like you once did, otherwise don't bother having it at all. Oh, and as far as the owner pretending that she wants people to feel welcome, she barely greeted anyone, just got transfixed with a few people, and ignored pretty much everyone else in the 1/2 hour we were there. And she knows us, too, as I 've bought many things from this store over the years. I don't want to support a business like this anymore. The owner needs to be more self aware, as there's not really much new in her store from last year.
Kristiane is warm and friendly, my husband and I felt so welcome. We found the perfect throw pillows for our living room, after Kristiane kindly offered for us to try them on approval in our space. The shop itself is beautiful, a 'must visit' in Cook Street Village.
Very disappointing , I loved the store and found many items of interest. But unfortunately my husband and I felt “snubbed” as the worker didn’t so much as look at us. I understand if you are with a customer but an acknowledgment would have went a long way- Not even hello or a goodbye. BTW potential customers are just as important as existing customers:(
