My wife has dementia. In less than four years she went from running a small business to a care home. After being told several times by her care giver and phsychiatrist I accepted her increased need for specialized care. I went to look at Glengarry as it was close and could accept her while I waited for my initial choice. I thought the place was bleak but eventually accepted and moved Susan in. Within weeks it was apparent that not only was she very well cared for but she was happy.
She has sadly continued to loose ground but has only become more at home in this facility. I have not seen her untidy, always dressed in clean clothes , hair tidy , teeth brushed. She wanders happily about the hallways and garden, chatting to staff and patients, incomprehensible and accepted.
The staff have a hard job but treat their charges with care and dignity. I live close by and go several times a week and daily see acts of kindness. I am accepted, my small help gives me a sense of participation in my much loved wife's care.
I can not say enough good things about this home.

Funny when my mother was in there about 7 or 8 years ago, it was horrid. Two care people in one area looking after everyone, patients coming up to me for help while I was visiting my mother. Wonder if different wings were different or if things have changed. Anyways I got my mother out of there as quick as possible at that time, and moved her into another facility where she was happier.

Staff are very caring and hard working
Manager is also involved in the effectiveness of services. Good environment nice park like setting, clean building and well maintained. Nice to see the level of care provided u see such busy circumstances; good work!

Have been there to visit on several occasions, the more I went the worse it got. Waited and waited for a nurse after we rang the buzzer several times, feels like an asylum!
