We recently visited Port Townsend and had the incredible fortune of finding Left Coast Charters for a sailing adventure with Captain Erik Brown. What started as a single outing quickly turned into three, as my friends and I were completely captivated by the experience. As soon as we arrived at the dock, we were greeted by a stunning bouquet of dahlias in vibrant colors, setting a beautiful tone for the trip. These gorgeous flowers were also thoughtfully arranged on the boat itself, adding a special touch that made us feel instantly welcomed.
Katie M is nothing short of extraordinary charming. The boat is remarkably spacious, with plenty of room to relax without feeling cramped. The seats are very comfortable, with cushioned benches, and there is a convenient table that made our onboard picnic an absolute pleasure. But what truly set this experience apart was Captain Erik himself. Beyond the comfort of the boat and the thrill of sailing, he is a remarkable host—engaging, entertaining, and genuinely personable. His warmth and friendliness made our time on the water even more enjoyable.
We were blessed with perfect weather, the perfect captain, and the perfect boat, making it impossible not to keep coming back for more. An added bonus was the amazing life vests provided by the company. They were a revelation—lightweight, breathable, and so comfortable that we forgot we were even wearing them, a far cry from the usual bulky and restrictive ones.
In short, our time with Left Coast Charters was the best sailing experience we’ve ever had. If you find yourself in Port Townsend, don’t miss the chance to sail with Captain Erik. You won’t regret it!

Erik was absolutely amazing. We did this tour with our 1 yo and 3yo and they were both quite nervous and unhappy at first (because kids). We were apologizing to Erik but he was not at all bothered, and in fact worked hard to help them (and us) have a wonderful experience. It was perfect! He stayed close to the shore and went slow so the girls wouldn’t be scared. He took time to explain things to our 3yo (he is clearly very experienced and knowledgeable about sailing) and even let her drive the boat for a bit. She absolutely loved it! He was so kind and personable and just made it a very pleasant and enjoyable experience. He didn’t even get upset when my daughter spilled some of her pouch, just helped clean it up. Would definitely recommend and maybe in a few years we can do it again and go just a little faster and a little further out. I am sure you will enjoy your tour on his lovely boat!

What an amazing experience! We booked our ride last minute and Erik was extremely accommodating, working with us to make the trip happen. Erik is extremely knowledgeable, entertaining and just a great host. The boat was very comfortable and I can’t not mention host’s attention to details with beautiful Dahlias and soft drinks. We got to learn about sailing, local history and marine life. Recommend!

We had a great sail! Eric was AMAZING and kept showing our 1 year old (with a very short attention span) different elements of the boat and telling stories, singing songs, letting him steer, the experience was amazing. Thank you!!!

My friends and I had an absolutely fantastic experience with Left Coast Charters! It's a beautiful boat and Erik is very personable and accommodating. It was such a pleasant and smooth ride and Erik made it so much fun with his entertaining stories, ukulele playing and sailor shanties. One of us had never been on a sailboat before and it was her dream to do this. It didn't disappoint!! I highly recommend Left Coast Charters for a great time on the water.
