Nicely modernization Thrifty Foods - the only full-service grocery store in the James Bay neighbourhood of Victoria.
Area is affluent and there are some specialty offerings in-store. The cakes and confections are gorgeous but kinda pricey; suitable for special occasions!
Full-service meat-fish counter, great produce and veggies.
Parking lot can be crazy!! even for pedestrians...
Located in James Bay Plaza, easy walk if you are staying in the nearby Inner Harbour. Also accessible by transit lines #2, #5, #10 from downtown Victoria.
A nice location to venture and walk the neighbourhood similar to Vancouver's Westend: quiet streets, trees, flowers, older interesting houses, and Fisherman's Wharf about 10-minutes to the west.

I shopped here every time the ship I worked on docked in town. very clean and good selection of snacks. (don't judge me! it was a cruise ship. all non-snack foods were free for me, but you can't get doritos in a cruise buffet.)

I have been shopping here for a couple years now but not by choice. I am disabled and physically can not go anywhere else. I go in daily and usually hand an employee a handful of expired or moldy products or things that rodents have clearly gotten in to. This is a daily occurrence. I am afraid to eat food from the only store I have access to because of how poorly these situations have been handled. On the 29th of June I noticed a product that said the 28th of June so I brought it to a staff member. It is now currently July 2nd and I have brought that product to someone every single day and they keep putting it on the shelf. I have spoken to so many employees and many of them have been horribly rude towards me. We don't feel safe eating food from here. We avoid eating a lot of the time because we don't want to shop here but we don't have other options. I feel like no one at this store will take it seriously. I have talked to managers on occasion but a lot of the time when I've asked to speak to a manager I'm told there isn't one in the store. I could go on and on about issues in this store. I've taken well over 50 photos of things I have found in this store and I remember to take a photos maybe 1 out of 10 times. AVOID THIS STORE IF YOU CAN!

This is not a big store but it is a great place to shop for food. The produce section is good. Their meat and poultry are also good.
The deli section has cold cuts, cheeses and cooked snack and food.
Vitamins and supplements are also available.
Parking is limited due to construction.

I recommend they retrain the deli staff to help customers. I made two attempts tonight to buy food from the deli and both times were unsuccessful. Not only that, on my 2nd attempt, once I got their attention the person seemed uninterested and reluctant to help me. Not sure why the deli staff won’t serve me
