This place is a gem, and I suspect many feel hesitant to review to keep it a bit of a secret. They deserve a huge amount of credit for keeping it open to the community at very reasonable membership rates, instead of being only for hotel guests. The updates that have been made recently are excellent. The Sauna temperature is in the right range for therapeutic health benefits and the new exercise equipment is excellent.

I went to this place to get a membership originally in May this year. Before I visited there, I questioned via email about getting a membership. These people who answered my questions via email were very nice and kind.
However, the front desk lady was pretty much unprofessional and racist. As soon as I entered, there were a few people already talking to the front desk lady. While they were talking each other, the front desk lady was like “are you here to work?” Is it the way how you guys greet customers? Lol. I was like “no, I am here to get a membership here” and wondered if she said the same thing to the previous customers. I felt the lady was discriminating by people’s look. Whenever I asked her questions, she looked annoyed by me and she kept eating something while talking to me.
Therefore, I decided not joining this club because I feel like I am paying to get racial discrimination, not for my health.
I think you guys need to improve on training your staffs here. If you guys need further information from me for further investigation, please let me know.

I have been a long time member of the Hotel Grand Pacific Athletic Club. It is a safe and clean place. I have never experienced any of what has been mentioned in those negative reviews.
The management and desk staff have always been professional, friendly and helpful. They work hard to maintain a warm and welcoming community feel that I could not find in any other gym.
As a resident of Victoria, I am fortunate to have a local gym that offers such a variety of classes, all led by knowledgeable and caring instructors.
I enjoy coming to the Victoria Athletic Club. It keeps me fit and has been and still is an essential part of my daily routine.

Very clean facility, there are free weights and a squat rack but the are quite small areas, lots of lever machines. Lovely wood floor studio if there are no classes, and lots of ellipticals and treadmills, as well as a squash court.
The pool is long and doesn't get more than 4 ft deep. The hot tub, sauna, and steam room are great if you hit them at non peak times. One of the cleanest steam rooms I've seen.
The showers have shampoo, conditioner, and soap, and the change room is decent. Very nice staff.

The Victoria Athletic Club is a delightful part of my day. The staff are professional, friendly and extremely welcoming. With being new to the city, the club has made me feel like a part of the community from day one. Along with the services they provide, this is the best gym destination in the city!
