What is foot care and why is it important?

​Foot care nursing is a field of nursing specialized in complications of the feet. Foot aliments can arise from incorrect footwear, injury, age, medical conditions such as diabetes, peripheral vascular disease and more. Poor foot care can lead to foot ulcers, corns, calluses, fungal infections, ingrown toenails and major complications.

The health of our feet plays a key role in our independence. According to the Public Health Agency of Canada “three out of four people develop serious foot problems as they age”. Feet can give early warnings about serious health problems such as poor circulation, diabetes, or nerve damage.

At Viva Foot Care we perform a thorough initial evaluation in order to create a customized care plan specific for your foot care needs. We provide education regarding ongoing foot care that can be done by you at home to maintain the health of your feet.
